In a globalized world, supply and value chains are becoming increasingly long and complex. At one end of the value chain, producers are dependent on global market prices, contractual agreements, and are exposed to significant social and economic risks. On the other hand, consumers know little to nothing about the impacts and details of the value chain. To make value chains sustainable and future-proof, transparency is essential. It is also important to closely examine the individual steps and the responsibilities and decision-making structures of all actors to gain a deeper understanding of the ecological, economic, and social costs.
Within the entire value chain, TEIKEI advocates for equality and justice, ensuring that processes are transparent and accessible to all participants. Decision-making structures are based on the principle of community. This means that decisions are made through discussion, with a focus on the expertise and trust placed in those responsible. The value chain at TEIKEI consists of three key steps:
- Cultivation and Production: Our products are grown by small-scale farms using sustainable and future-oriented methods that follow the principles of regenerative agriculture.
- Transport: Transport is carried out as emission-free and fair as possible for all parties involved. We focus on minimizing CO2 emissions, avoiding unnecessary routes, and utilizing alternative transport methods such as bicycle or train transport.
- Distribution: We develop sustainable distribution structures to avoid unnecessary intermediaries and deliver products directly to consumers. By using consumer communities, we ensure that products are distributed fresh and efficiently.
