3-level system of regenerative agriculture
The 3-level system describes the progress of a farm towards fully regenerative agriculture. It is based on four levels: Level 0 (Basic), Level 1 (L1), Level 2 (L2) and Level 3 (L3). The approaches of the TEIKEI Agriculture form the basis for the level system.
- Level 0: The farm works with organic measures, mostly certified (approx. 95% of the production is organic). Care is taken to ensure that the farm operates predominantly according to organic standards, but does not yet take any measures towards regenerative agriculture.
- Level 1: The farm is interested in regenerative agriculture and is working with us to create a concrete roadmap for the transition. During this phase, plans and goals are developed to implement regenerative practices in the long term.
- Level 2: The objectives for the farm are now clearly defined and implementation has begun. The farm is supported by our advisory services and measurable objectives are set to be achieved within a timeframe of three to five years. This is where the real transformation of agricultural practices begins.
- Level 3: The farm has achieved all its goals and is now fully regenerative farming. This means that the soil now continuously stores more carbon, the soil's water retention capacity is improved and microbial activity and biodiversity are increasing. The farm will be more productive, stable and resilient in the long term.
This system makes it possible to measure a farm’s progress towards sustainable, regenerative agriculture and to support it accordingly.
